About FreeRealEstateExamPrep

Passing a real estate licensing exam costs money before you earn any. There is the course, the exam fee, the application fee, and the exam fee again if you fail. Practice material is the one part of that which does not need to cost anything.

  1. 1. What this is

A free practice exam for the US real estate licensing test: 1,500 questions written to the published national content outline, a practice exam for each of the 50 states, 120 exam terms mapped and defined, and flashcards over the same vocabulary.

The explained sample questions need no account and never expire. Full practice tests are limited: one every 7 days without an account, three with a free account, unlimited with a paid pass.

  2. 2. What makes it different

Most free practice tests give you a percentage and stop. We score you against your own state's real passing standard where the state publishes one, and we tell you plainly when it does not, rather than inventing a line.

The 50 state pages are built from official candidate handbooks rather than copied from other prep sites. That work turned up several figures the rest of the industry has wrong, including an exam fee most sites still list at an old number and a course hour requirement that changed in 2025. Those corrections are noted on the pages themselves.

Every glossary term ends in the exam questions that test it, because knowing a definition and answering a scenario about it are different skills and only the second one is examined.

  3. 3. Who it is for

People studying for a salesperson or broker licensing exam, usually alongside a job, usually paying for the course themselves. If you are enrolled in a prep course you have already paid for, this is a supplement rather than a replacement.

  4. 4. How it is funded

Advertising and clearly labelled referral links to pre licensing course providers. If you buy a course through one of those links we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

What that does not buy: placement in exam content, influence over a state figure, or a mention inside a practice question. See the editorial policy for how we keep those separate.

  5. 5. What we are not

We are not a licensed pre licensing course provider, not affiliated with PSI, Pearson VUE or any state real estate commission, and not able to register you for an exam or issue a licence. Only your state commission and its approved providers can do those things.

No licensed professional has independently reviewed this content yet, and we say so on every page where it matters rather than implying otherwise.

  6. 6. How we work

Our methodology page explains where the questions and figures come from, including what we deliberately leave blank. If something on this site is wrong, the corrections process is the fastest route to getting it fixed.
